Facing Only Limpers in the Blinds at a Loose FL Hold'em Game

This is the situation. None of your opponents has shown any strength by raising. You get great pot odds from the small blind. From the big blind they are infinite. Still you will have a positional disadvantage the rest of the hand.

The quick description of what this situation calls for: play any suited hand but be careful with the raising.

Baring a “Big Blind special” of hitting a full house or something like that on the flop, 9 4 only has one strength (flush). The pot odds given by the rake rebate motivates a speculative call. There might not even be a bet on the flop. Letting you see four cards for half a bet out of the small blind. Do not get carried away though; do not play junk offsuit hands. This is not no limit poker where the pay off can be far greater than the initial investment. Just as it possible to get a free peak at the turn, it is also a very likely event that a bet from an opponent gives you just too small pot odds to continue.

Only the strongest starting hands should be used to raise with out of the blinds. More money will enter the pot where a strong hand stands to win, but a raise alerts everyone of a possible strong hand and bad calls on the turn and river become less likely. Depending on the situation, the final pot will be about the same size. A raise forces the blind to be active throughout the play of the hand in order to not convey a huge weakness. This is not a desirable spot with something as weak and flop dependent as A 9.
