So far in the Poker School, whenever there has been a discussion about a specific poker game, it has been about fixed limit Texas Hold'em. Generally, that is the best place to start for most beginning poker players. FL Texas Hold'em is easy to learn and there are not as large fluctuations in the results (money) as in other formats. But it certainly is not the only way to play poker. Lets explore the various gaming options available.
The following section of pages will introduce the most common game types, betting structures and game formats. Even if you feel that there aren't any option better than fixed limit Texas Hold'em at the moment, it is always good to know your options. If nothing else, you'll learn to decipher the information that an online poker room greets you with in their lobby: PL Omaha, $100 Texas Hold'em, $1-$2 Seven-Card Stud, $100 + $9 NL Texas Hold'em Freezeout, or $5 + $0.50 Omaha/8 Sit'n'go.
