CryptoLogic launches Greek-language Internet poker site for William Hill Poker

TORONTO (CP) - CryptoLogic Inc. has launched a new Greek-language Internet poker site for William Hill Poker of Britain.

CryptoLogic, which makes software for the Internet gambling industry, said Monday the project was inspired by the booming popularity of web-based poker. Financial details were not disclosed. The new site gives Greek-speaking players the ability to play in their local language and use multi-currency deposits and withdrawals.

William Hill is a global gambling brand and the largest sports bookmaker in Britain.

"William Hill's Greek-language launch points to the global potential of Internet poker, and that CryptoLogic software enables leading gaming brands to localize their online offerings for worldwide appeal," said Lewis Rose, CryptoLogic's chief executive.

The Toronto-based company does 60 per cent of its business in Britain and Europe. Earlier this month, it credited the growing Internet poker craze for boosting its third-quarter earnings from $5.1 million from $2.9 million last year.

During afternoon trading on the Toronto Stock Exchange, its shares (TSX:CRY - news) gained 18 cents to $23.93.
