WSOP is put on halt until november - total prize sum over 180 million

The last cards have been dealt in the 2008 WSOP, almost. The big crowds are leaving Las Vegas, at least the ones who were there for the six weeks of the WSOP. But it is not quite over, the raisin of the cake is still left. The final table of the Main Event is played in November!

Nine players will have to wait a few months before they get to battle it out for the crown. How this will turn out we will have to wait and see. Don't worry about the final table players though. While it will be nerve wrecking getting used to the fame and having all that time getting prepared and sharpening their game, they have gotten the money for a ninth position $900,670 and will be prepared by the folks behind the WSOP. The winner will take home more than that, $9,119,517 to be precise. The total prize sum of all the events at this years WSOP is a staggering $180,666,773.

With a pause in the action the WSOP are creating "The November Nine". The Commissioner of the World Series of Poker says: The November Nine will represent not only the WSOP, but poker players everywhere. I have the utmost confidence they will become ambassadors for our great game and let the world know - more than ever before - that poker is an endeavor of skill, style, integrity and good sportsmanship!

An interesting development of the WSOP that we will have to wait and see how it turns out.
