Poker Ocean is no different from any other poker room, they make money by collecting a set percentage of the total pot at the end of every hand. This is called "rake", and is really what the customers pay Poker Ocean to play in their poker room. Only real money games are raked. At tournaments a fee is taken instead. The rake aims at a percentage of the pot, 5% of the pot. Very seldom does it end up exactly 5% percent. Partly because there is a cap, a maximum rake which makes large pots raked lower viewed as a percentage. Partly because the rake is actually not taken as a percentage of the final pot size but instead it is collected in intervals. The intervals depend on the betting structure, the stakes, the number of players and finally the pot size. PokerOcean has one system for big bet games and one for fixed limit games. First off, No- and Pot-Limit rake chart is presented below.
| No-Limit & Pot-Limit | Number of Players |
Pot Size | Maximum |
|---|---|---|---|
| $.01/$.02 blinds & above | 2 - 3 | $.05 per $1 | $1 |
| 4 - 5 | $.05 per $1 | $2 | |
| 6 - 10 | $.05 per $1 | $3 |
Below are the intervals at which Poker Ocean takes the rake at fixed limit games. Note that the left column now lists the limits of the game and not the level of the blinds. Lower stakes games have tighter intervals.

Poker Ocean has a “no flop – no drop” policy. Rake is only taken if the hand is played beyond the first betting round.
