Table and players

Texas Hold'em is played with a standard 52-card deck. The number of players can vary but in a full ring game there are usually 10 participants. Texas Hold'em is a flop game and each players 2 pocket cards can be combined with 5 "flopped" community cards in order to create a hand. The standard poker hand rankings are used to determine which hand is the best hand.

The mechanics is explained with one page for each heading below:

A dealer manages and supervises the game.

Blind bets are posted before the cards are dealt.

Each player is given pocket cards face down which are the only private cards each player will be dealt.

The first round of betting occurs before the flop and each player must decide whether to call, raise or fold.

With the flop: three community cards are dealt face up in the middle of the table and there is a second round of betting. Now checking becomes an option for all players apart from calling, raising or folding.

The turn brings the fourth community card and the third round of betting.

The river reveals the fifth and final community card and the final betting is done.

The showdown is where the winner is determined.

One hand is finished and a new can be dealt.
